Cats And Dogs Aren’t The Only Animals That Can Learn To Get Our Attention At Feeding Time!

Nicknamed “Rocksy” by a passionate wife and mother, this mama raccoon “knocks” at the back door when she’s hungry! After Rocksy empties out the bowl of cat food, this crafty raccoon has somehow learned that if she knocks hard and loud enough, the cat bowl will get refilled. She picks up a small rock and begins to tap it against the sliding glass door for attention. The motion has created a huge row of scratches and nicks along the bottom half of the glass, but that doesn’t matter to this woman who has essentially “adopted” the little raccoon and her babies. She thinks it’s hilarious!

Like she says in the video, raccoons are not solely nocturnal. A nursing mother raccoon will stay with her babies during the night to protect them harm and only forage out in the day light when her babies will be the most safe without a guardian around the chase away predators.

According to the woman, this raccoon will knock at the back door for hours until the cat bowl is refilled. While the woman in this video thinks it’s cute, I worry about this little raccoon in case one day the woman moves away and someone else moves in who isn’t so fond of raccoons. Hopefully they will share a long and happy life together! This mama raccoon sure does love cat food!
