Did You Know That Fish Can Give Hugs? Yeah, It’s Just As Weird As It Sounds…WATCH!
A Blood Parrot Cichlid isn’t a bird, and it isn’t a reptile like it sounds. It’s actually a fish! They are highly intelligent and can learn commands and tricks, too. They have a better memory than your average fish, and a lot of owners report that their fish will actually wait in their tanks as close to the front door as possible so that they can see when their human comes home from work. This particular fish will splash around enthusiastically when he realizes that his humans have come home, and won’t stop until they come to his tank and say “hi!”
These fish are surprisingly affectionate and enjoy playing and learning new things. I’ve seen videos of these fish playing dead, playing fetch, and even splashing out of the water! In this video, we see the fish playing around with his human’s hand. Swimming in and out and around his palm, sitting calmly while he gets his scales massaged, and even being pushed and pulled around like some kind of fishy roller coaster!
Fish aren’t usually considered traditional pets in that we can’t really tell how they are feeling. Their pale glassy eyes and cold scales don’t give off any emotions that we humans can recognize…but watching this fish made me realize that this fish does have feelings! How neat!
