Have You Ever Seen A Wild Hamster? They Aren’t As Cute As You’d Think. Yikes!!
You may have had the chance to own a hamster when you were growing up. These fuzzy and lovable creatures may have been your best friend, or your neighbor’s best friend. Something that we tend to forget about our pets is that they have descended from wild animals whose only goals in life to were to survive. Hamsters developed cheek pouches and nocturnal behavior to avoid predators and starvation, and unless they had found a mate, created little territories where they lived alone.
This video showcases a field hamster. This wild animal may look like a cute and fuzzy pet, but he has probably never even seen a human before and he is fiercely protecting his territory from these “intruders.” These guys weren’t looking for a fight, but after one man got too close, he was bitten for his mistake! They were impressed at the ferocity in this little hamster, leaping and nipping at creatures dozens of times his size! He is so brave.
He may have been protecting his litter, his mate, or even just his little burrow nearby under the ground. All I know is that he is nothing like the warm and cuddly hamsters found in the pet stores. This little guy has some serious attitude! Way to go, buddy! Show ‘em who’s boss! They eventually use a shoe to put him back into the grass nearby and go about their day. I hope that guy put a bandage on his battle wound!
