It Started To Flood In Their Neighborhood And These Buddies Decided To Surf In The Streets! Righteous, Dude!
I lived in a neighborhood that flooded maybe once or twice a year after a really big rainstorm. It was usually during late spring, but the runoff from the higher areas would create a sort of waterfall through our main street. Everyone’s houses were built on top of concrete stilts, so the only thing we really had to worry about was where to keep our bikes so that they wouldn’t get carried away by some random current. One day, we thought it would be fun to try something like this, but instead of wake boards we were using flat pool floaties. I’ve never in my life skinned my knees as bad as I did that day. Underneath those 6 – 8 inches of water is rocky concrete, and falling on it hurts just as much when it’s wet as it does when it’s dry.
A huge storm passed through New Jersey, and these guys decided to make the most of their flooded streets. They shimmied into their wet suits and hooked their wake boards to the tail of their SUV and turned on their cameras! There were a few wipe outs in this video, and the only thing I could think about was the cuts and scrapes they may have been getting from the pavement! Yikes! They really did learn to make lemonade out of those lemons, though! Tubular.
