These Guys Sit Down To Play A Game Of Chess…30 Seconds Later, The Game Is OVER! WOW!
Magnus Carlsen is the current world champion in three kinds of chess: classic, rapid, and blitz. This is a video showing a game between him and his manager, timed by a clock that is counting down from 30 seconds for the young boy and 3 minutes for the manager. I’m sorry, can you say AMAZING?! Perhaps if you follow chess, this is a familiar process for you, but I have never played and so this entire video was a whirlwind of confusion. “Why are they hitting that box? Why are they knocking down pieces but not putting them back on the board? How can they think that fast?” I was very lost until I looked into this a bit more.
This is a blitz game, which means that they are timed and have to win before the clocks runs out. Well, that’s the simplest explanation, and I don’t really understand much past that, but it’s good enough for me! The crowd seemed to be enjoying it, too! I’m not sure that I could play a single game for the duration of my career, but this kid seems to REALLY know his stuff! Just watch how fast his hands dart across the board as he moves his way to (almost) victory! He lost because his timer ran out, but couldn’t have won because of how many pieces were on the board. Either way, amazing.
