This Beagle Meets The New Baby For The First Time, And It’s Instant Love!
In this family, their beagle was their only baby for many years! When you have dogs, it is important to let them know their place in the “pack,” and that means that they need to learn that the new addition to the family is above them in the family circle. Separating the dogs from the new baby is a decent way to handle this transition, as is making the baby’s room “off limits.” There are many different ways to incorporate dogs into the new expanded family, and sometimes the best option is to keep them separated until the new baby starts to crawl.
That’s what this family chose to do, and it was a great idea! The first thing their beagle did was rub his back onto the carpet – this room had been off limits for months, and this was his chance to “mark” his territory. Their meeting is so precious! I find it fascinating that animals can tell the difference between infants and full-grown humans and know to be gentle – even though the babies are not.
This was too cute! If you have gone through this transition, how did you handle the introductions to your new baby? My dogs were eager to smell the new baby and they get along wonderfully!
