This Crazy Creature Found On An Australian Beach Is Insane! When I Found Out What It Does?! Cool!
Say hello to the glaucus atlanticus, or the “blue angel” as locals call it! It looks very pretty, it’s silver and blue skin swirling in intricate patterns across its back make this little creature look like a dainty butterfly underneath the ocean’s waves. They glide through the water and blend in with their surroundings due to their coloring, but these little sea slugs have a much more incredible life than we give them credit for!
While most sea slugs in the ocean will have a hearty diet of seaweed, plankton, algae, and sometimes even the eggs of other sea slugs! Gross. But this particular sea slug is a lot bolder than its brothers across the oceans. This blue angel feeds on man o’war jellyfish! That’s right – the inflated blue jellyfish that have incredibly long tentacles are often prey to these dangerous blue angels. Because of their diet, these tiny little beasties can have a sting as potent and as powerful as a tentacle from a man o’war jellyfish! By ingesting the toxins and poisons, this little slug is not something to take lightly.
Despite its misleading name, this creature is only native to the Indian and Pacific oceans – but if you happen to see one, stay away! These locals are lucky that they weren’t injured, but it is pretty cool that they have managed to get such an up close and personal video of this elegant creature! Too cool!
