This Interview Was Cut Short By The World’s LARGEST Mammal! WOW!
Steve Backshall was conducting an interview with Doris Welch, a blue whale expert who has devoted her life to the restoration and preservation of Earth’s largest mammals. They were out on the water and hoped that they might spot one of these majestic creatures, but weren’t really counting on it. Blue whale sightings are quite rare so this team contented themselves to just talking about the progress that this national reserve has been making to rehabilitate the blue whale’s population. What happened next stunned them both!
While they were talking, the BBC’s helicopter spotted a blue whale swimming close to the surface very near to where this interview was taking place! The blue whale was at least twice the size of their boat and looked perfectly happy and healthy! They couldn’t get the boat too close, but the footage from the hovering helicopter was stunning! Their luck was so amazing that day. To think, they were content just to talk about the creatures they were trying so desperately to save, and one just swims up almost right beside them!
I hope to go whale watching one day. I think it is one of those things in life that you just have to experience for yourself in order to believe! Wow!
