This Rare Footage Was Taken In Alaska…And It’s AMAZING!
Whale sightings are fairly rare – most people will never see one in their lifetime. If you take a whale-watching tour, you may see a few whales at a distance, but sometimes none at all. If you have seen any, you know just how impressive these creatures are. Not only are the huge, they are curiously graceful! They are the giants of the ocean, and as expected, they have a huge appetite.
They are amazing creatures, but once you understand what is really happening in the video, you’ll think they are even more amazing!
These whales start by swimming in a wide circle around different schools of fish. The fish swim away from the whale, unknowingly towards the center of a very large circle. The whales start low and blow bubbles to herd the schools of fish inwards and upwards. The whales slowly swim closer to each other until the circle is very small and all of the fish are in one spot!
Then, the whales all leap up with their mouths wide open and swallow the fish for a tasty meal. Seagulls circle and hope to catch stray fish that haven’t gotten themselves eaten, creating a feast for everyone involved! Well, except for the fish, that is…
Whales are amazing, and this particular technique is unique to Humpback Whales who work together to help the entire pod! Intelligent and strong, these whales can live up to 100 years! Watch this rare footage and see this incredible technique at work.
