This Undercover Cop Pretends To Be In A Wheelchair And Expects To Make Arrests. Yikes!
In Vancouver, the police were baffled when they received two reports of assaults on persons in wheelchairs. These people had no way to defend themselves from knives or assaults, and had their belongings stolen with no way to retaliate. This police officer decided that he would try and discover the culprit on his own. He disguised himself as an “easy mark” by not only sitting in a wheelchair, but also having a brain injury that made movement and simple tasks such as counting just impossible. He wheeled himself out to the corner where the attacks had taken place and waited.
Nearby, backup waited and filmed every second of his undercover sting. This assignment would last for 5 days in order to lure out the offenders. What they discovered instead shocked them to their cores.
Over 300 citizens interacted with the disabled man in a wheelchair to ask if he had someone to help him out at the end of the day. They asked him if he needed food or clothing or money before moving on. Several people needed change and when he told them that he was unable to count, they either gave him the exact change or a little extra. Not one person took money from this man in need.
One citizen reached out towards his money pouch, but all he did was zip it closed for the man and let him know to be more careful. The citizens on this town were not at all what the police assumed, and the acts of violence had been an anomaly. This story is really incredible!
