What Advice Would You Give To Someone 2 Years Younger Than You? These People Tell It Like It Is, And It’s Scarily Accurate.
When I was 10 years old, our teacher gave us an assignment to write a letter to our future selves. We were supposed to go home and “hide” it somewhere so that we could find it later after we had forgotten about it. I didn’t find mine until I moved out to go to college 8 years later. Somehow, the advice “buy the sequin mini skirt when you get a car and mom can’t stop you” and “eat cake for dinner because you’ll be a grown up” didn’t seem to resonate like I thought it might when I was writing them.
Advice depends on your situation, and at that time that I was writing it, those must have been the biggest issues in my life at that time. So what happens if you get a group of people with an age range of 6 – 93? Some pretty amazing advice, apparently. The most interesting part of this video is the way everyone who watches it perceives the younger generation until they reach the point of people giving advice who are their own age. After that, our mindset changes to “what might I learn from them?”
Some of the advice was quirky and some of it was confusing, but passing along advice and wisdom is something that everyone wants to do. If we can make life easier for the next generation, this is the way to do it.
