Did you know that your body needs to be cooled down to sleep? It’s probably why so many of us turn on the air conditioner just before bed, and why it’s so much harder to wake up for work during the colder months. But what about during the warmer months?

Insomnia is a very real problem for a lot of people that affects their daily lives in a huge way. Can you imagine being tired all of the time, but not be able to do anything about it? People with insomnia have most likely tried every trick in the book with no luck, but maybe this one will work! If you don’t have insomnia but perhaps just have trouble drifting off into dreamland, try this method and see if it helps you catch some Zzz’s!

Stick one foot outside of your blanket.

Yep. That’s it. According to the video below, it helps to regulate your body temperature and helps you fall asleep faster. Now I know that this can be a frightening thing, especially since monsters live under my bed and only come out when I put one foot outside of the safety of the blanket, but it really does work!

If you are a little squeamish about keeping a foot outside of the covers, cover it with a sheet only and not your regular comforter or heavy blanket. Watch this video to see a bit more about how the science of it all works and try it out for yourself!
